Prabowo Calls Supporters Not to Attend Election Dispute Trial

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto asked his supporters not to hold an event in the Constitutional Court during the trial on the presidential election dispute. Gerindra party chair and running mate Sandiaga Uno decided to take the constitutional way and demanded their supporters believe in the legal way.
“I and Sandiaga appeal to our supporters to not massively present in MK next days ahead,” said Prabowo on a seven-minute and 58-second video circulated by his media team on Tuesday evening, June 11.
Prabowo and Sandiaga filed an appeal against the presidential election result to MK. The preliminary trial was scheduled to take place on Friday, June 14 until the court ruling on June 28, 2019.
Prabowo underlined he and Sandiaga, since the beginning, planned and determined to take a constitutional way to challenge the election result announced by Election Committee (KPU) which concluded the victory of incumbent Jokowi - Ma’ruf.

Should an act to deliver an opinion in public occurs, it must be established peacefully and without violence, he added.
“We don’t want single violence occurs in this country. That’s not how we solve [the problem],” the former commander of the Special Forces Command asserted.
He further reminded his supporters to remain calm and maintain this peaceful, good situation and called all to preserve the brotherhood and family spirit as fellow nationals.
However, he allowed a delegation to accompany his legal team in the court, yet not in a massive number to anticipate slander and provocation. “I please you to sami’na wa ato’na (we hear and we obey), believe in leaders, and if you truly support Prabowo - Sandiaga, please don’t come in around MK.”
Prabowo went on to say that his and Sandiaga’s intention was for the sake of the nation, community, and people. He also expected his supporters to believe in the court judges who would decide the case. “Whatever the ruling, we have to respond to it maturely, calmly, and think of the interest of the nation and state.”
